ABOUT US

The Butterfly Project started in 2015- With previous experience of helping run a small group, 3 of us got together and decided to set up a support group for those affected by self harm. For some of us this was due to our own personal experience and wanting to ensure there was more support out there, for others it was due to their passion and work experience that made them get involved. Most of all we all believe hope is real and things do get better.

We aim to give members a "toolbox" to help them cope in their times of need, through group we hope members discover a sense of community, a non-judgemental environment and also make friendships.

We do all of this through weekly group sessions, within these sessions we look at different coping skills & techniques and how we can adapt and use these to work in the best way for us, we also have fun sessions in which we might watch a film, or enjoy some games-hopefully giving everyone a well earned break from the stress of the week.

Alongside this we also have group outings. Two of our most popular ones are our outing to Dogs Unleashed which gives us and our four legged friends a chance to get together. Our other favorite outing entails a hike up Kinder Scout in Edale, which proves to be a very rewarding experience for all and further cements our sense of community & friendship.
