Role: Founder, Media officer and Group leader
Having previously been involved in another support group i wanted to do something myself, using my own skills and experiences. As a young person the only source of support i had was online, and this was not always positive.
I am a strong believer that people need other people and a sense of community can go a long way to help someone begin to recover. So i wanted to try and provide a safe, non-judgemental environment in which coping skills and strategies can be taught in different learning styles to reach as many people as possible. With the support of Helen & Gail The Butterfly Project was born.
It hasnt been easy and it hasnt always gone the way i imagined, but our members have turned up consistently and seeing them grow week in week out is phenomenal and worth the long nights planning sessions and the sometimes tangent ridden committe meetings.
It is my hope that the butterfly project will grow- with more groups across the county and then beyond. I hope that members will grow with us and develop into the group leaders of tomorrow.
Together we are strong.
With Hope, Always

Role: Founder & Charirperson
My interest in supporting people affected by self-harm arose through making friends with people who had suffered a sense of judgement and shame because of the way in which they attempted to cope with the hard knocks of life.
Noone should be judged for their efforts to cope.
People who are struggling should be supported by friends with a spirit of love, hope and fun.
Thats the community we offer to people at The Butterfly Project.
